Holoport AI Chess for Apple Vision Pro · last updated 14 October 2026
The chess engine runs on your headset, and Play Local works with no connection at all. When you play Claude, the text of what you say and the moves of the game are sent to our server so that Claude can answer you. Your voice is turned into text on the headset and the recording itself is never uploaded. There is no advertising, no tracking and no analytics in the app.
Holoport AI Chess is made by Gazellia Ventures LLC. Questions about this policy go to chris@gazellia.com.
The app talks to one server, run by us at hc.gazellia.com on Amazon Web Services.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| A random account ID | The app makes a random identifier the first time it runs and keeps it in your Keychain (synced by iCloud Keychain if you use it). It is how the server knows which games you have paid for, without a login. It is not linked to your name, email or Apple Account. |
| The text of what you say to Claude | So Claude can reply. Only the text, never the audio. |
| The moves of the game, your colour and the level you chose | So the server can keep the game, choose the opponent's move and let you resume an unfinished game. |
| Purchase information from Apple | When you buy a Claude game, the app sends the Apple-signed transaction for that purchase (which product, its transaction ID and whether it was a test purchase) so the server can credit the game to your account ID. We never see your payment details. |
Free Play Local games can also use the server for one thing: when you are online, the wizard's spoken lines for your first few free games each day are written by Claude, which needs the moves of that game. Offline, he uses built-in lines and nothing is sent.
If you choose an online match against another player, the moves are relayed through our server, and so are the positions of your head and hands relative to the board (about 15 times a second, during that match only) so your opponent sees a figure reach for the pieces. These are relayed live, not stored. Your opponent sees the display name you typed; names containing offensive words are replaced with a generic name before anyone else sees them. Your account ID is sent with an online match so blocks can be kept, and it is never shown to your opponent. If you play a friend over FaceTime, the game runs through Apple's SharePlay.
Each game against Claude or the wizard is stored as a record tied to your random account ID: the moves, the result and, for Claude games, the conversation text, so a game can be picked up again and so the wizard remembers what was said earlier in it.
Online matches against other players are not stored beyond the reports and blocks described above: their moves exist only while the match is being played.
To have the records for your account ID deleted sooner, email chris@gazellia.com.
