The app looks for a table in front of you and sets the board on it. If it cannot find one, or picks the wrong surface, use Re-place board on the game panel and put it where you want it. Good light and a clear tabletop help the headset find the table.
Settings has three board sizes: 30, 40 and 50 cm.
Look at one of your pieces so it glows, pinch to pick it up, keep pinching while you move your hand, and open your fingers to drop it. The squares it can go to light up, and near one of them the piece slides into place. You can also reach out and pinch the piece directly. Let go away from a lit square and the piece goes back where it was, still selected, so you can tap a lit square instead.
The piece will shake and tell you why: it is not your turn, it is not your piece, or that piece has no legal move right now.
Tap the small violet MENU orb at the edge of the board. It shows or hides the panel. Reset panel puts it back beside the board.

Tell him. Ask him to be quiet and he stops making small talk, and still plays. Muting the microphone stops him hearing you.
